We'll come back to the viewing environment a little later. Let's try creating a new object now. First you'll need to exit the viewing environment by clicking on the stop sign .

Now click on New Object in the Command Palette. You will be prompted for an image file. We'll use the Y Demo files for this example, so go into the Y Demo folder, and find the file name Y1.bmp or Y.1 and double-click on it.


You will now see the dialog box on the left. If you were using you own images, you would need to specify the width of the entire image in the Slice Width box, and the thickness of the slices in the Slice Thickness box. For our example, give a slice width of 500 and a slice thickness of 50.




You will now see the Editing Environment, shown on the right. The image you will see in the large central window should be two blue circles. This represents a slice through the top of a Y-shaped tube. The two circles are the two "arms" of the Y in cross-section.
